Penguins on board

I thought sagging trousers had gone out of fashion. Recent sightings underground suggest otherwise. Saw one today on the way to work, he was walking really fast and used same speed going down the stairs. What a sight, he couldn’t climb down straight so had to move from side to side – just like a penguin! Paintwork

A colleague told me how she was journeying one day and a lady on the train was calmly painting her nails. She (said colleague) starts coughing, lady pays no attention. She increases the intensity of her cough hoping for some consideration, no luck. She then decides to speak up asking her to stop as it is aggravating her asthma. Lady says, I’m almost done just a few more nails. My colleague is in shock! I get on the train and this young man is sitting on the first seat – you know the one where those who are less able to stand have the first pass. Since he is a young man and I am, well, older (ahem) he offers me the seat. I say, alright thanks. And he continues sitting and fiddling with his phone. Half term

It’s half term and commuter numbers have reduced. In this season, one is always guaranteed a seat. Here I am sitting and there’s no one standing in the aisles. I notice the guy opposite me. Every time I look up from my paper, my eyes catch his. This is getting uncomfortable. Why doesn’t he read a newspaper, a book or something?
